Hey Scroipt. Thanks for the wikification of

Goldman Equation by making the equation an image rather than text. Do you think you could do it again with an adjustment of the +/- superscripts on the subscripted ion? To me, the superscripted + and - on the ions in the permeability terms look like operators. That is, it looks like P + conc, rather than P x Conc. Synaptidude 17:29, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply

The Goldman equation is generally used to calculate a net membrane potential from various individual ion concentration potentials (calculated with the Nernst equation).

An example using $Na^{+}$ , $Ca^{2+}$ , $K^{+}$ and $Cl^{-}$ :

E_{m}={\frac {G_{Na^{+}}}{G_{T}}}E_{Na^{+}}+{\frac {G_{Ca^{2+}}}{G_{T}}}E_{Ca^{2+}}+{\frac {G_{K^{+}}}{G_{T}}}E_{K^{+}}+{\frac {G_{Cl^{-}}}{G_{T}}}E_{Cl^{-}}

Re: subs/supers (Synaptidude), the formatting is done according to (La)TeX-standard, the rendering thereof indeed does look slightly faulty, but I don't believe this should be fudged but should be allowed to correct itself in the programming. ScroipT 16:20, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
