If anyone has specifically the deluxe edition of Spirit, or perhaps the original if you are from the UK, then could someone tell me the info about "Homeless" please, such as recording location, instrumentalists, mixers etc. Thanks. Aaron You Da One 17:00, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well. Since the user is semi-retired, i'll be handling the review alone. Any help will be gladly received.

Review

First comments

  • Lead paragraph too large; I split it into two.
  • Moved sample to thcomposition section.
  • Deleted redundance "3:50 (3 minutes, 50 seconds)" >> "three minutes and 50 seconds."
  • "The song was composed in the key B minor using common time" >> "The song was composed on common time in the key..."

Prose comments

Cover
  • I think that this is a cover from Leona, this song was written by Jörgen Elofsson, but for Darin Zanyar, a swedish singer, in 2006 for his album "Breaking the news".
Composition
  • "to come home to where she is waiting for him, but feels homeless without him."
  • Some redundant use of "him". May recommend change the second "him" with "his presence"
  • "The opening lyrics are "Wait here for you to call me/ For you to tell me that ev'rything's a big mistake."
  • Propose a change to "The song opens with Lewis singing..."; and, however, this sentence seems to be an orphan, not connected woth the rest of the paragraph. Which is the importance of it?
  • It's the composition section, I'm just saying what the opening lyric is. Nothing wrong with that. Aaron You Da One
Reception
  • "Nick Levine for Digital Spy described Lewis's vocals in the lyric "In this cold I'm walking aimless, feeling helpless" as "a tour de force of despair and misery"
  • Some bad wording.
  • Lewis's >> Lewis'.
  • "Although he thought that the song was "almost unbearably bleak","
  • Redundant use of –though/t?
  • The critical section is lacking some order. The sentences seemed to be separate statements rather than a whole paragraph. It needs cohesiveness between the sentences.
Tracklisting
  • Why it has two versions on the TL? They're musically different? Or just on different albums?
Charts
  • "debuted at number 173 on the strength of digital download sales..."
  • "on the strength"?

That's all for now. —

This article needs renaming

It needs renaming to Homeless (Leona Lewis song), it needs more information, and the standard of writing/presentation needs to be improved.

Re the name, it should be like

.

Comments? Moriori (talk) 23:45, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The disambiguation is fine. There is only one song article called Homeless, and this is it. No need to disambiguate Leona Lewis in the name. Also, the prose is fine. So is the presentation. AARONTALK 00:44, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. Homeless is a song written by Jörgen Elofsson. It was sung on Idol in 2004 in Sweden by Darin. In 2006 it was on his third album Break the News which went straight to number 1 on the album charts and certified gold in its first week of sales. It was also released internationally. Late in 2007 Leona Lewis released her first album called [[Spirit (Leona Lewis album)|Spirit, which included the track Homeless.
If the title of this article is to remain Homeless (song) then it has to incorporate the Darin version, and not give the impression it is uniquely a Lewis song.
If the article is to mention only Lewis then the title needs to be changed to Homeless (Leona Lewis song).
I am surprised to see you say the presentation is fine. It's a long time since I saw an article with such glaring and jarring repetition, and probably never in an article with only four paragraphs.
  • First paragraph: "The song was written by Swedish songwriter Jörgen Elofsson and produced by Steve Mac.
  • Second parapraph: "Homeless was written by Swedish songwriter Jörgen Elofsson, and produced by Steve Mac".
  • First paragraph: "The song's lyrics revolve around Lewis singing about waiting for her boyfriend to come home to where she is waiting for him, but feels homeless without him"
  • Second paragraph: "The song's lyrics revolve around Lewis singing about waiting for her boyfriend to come home to where she is waiting for him, but feels homeless without his presence"
  • Sidebar: "...Lewis singing about waiting for her boyfriend to come home to where she is waiting for him, but feels homeless without him."

Her's is the only one that charted, so her's is the only one that matters. AARONTALK 02:08, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is a non neutral POV. The second of the WP:Five pillars says the following -- "Editors' personal experiences, interpretations, or opinions do not belong here." With that in mind, would you like to have another go at answering the points I made. Moriori (talk) 02:59, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What other song is called "Homeless" that has a Wikipedia article? Statυs (talk) 16:05, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't. That is what Moriori is failing to understanding and why his entire point is redundant. AARONTALK 16:09, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Moriori, your examples are for songs that have the same title by different artists. There are no other song's named "Homeless" with Wikipedia articles. So therefore, "Leona Lewis" is not needed to differentiate. Statυs (talk) 16:11, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the proposal was moved. --BDD (talk) 17:32, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DAB. A much better known and more notable song, Homeless (Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo song), is now a standalone article but already received en.wikipedia coverage on Graceland (album) and Ladysmith Black Mambazo articles. Both the Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo versions appear near the top of Amazon.com mp3 sales for songs called "Homeless", Leona Lewis' doesn't appear till the 3rd page after dozens of other songs called "Homeless". In print sources Homeless + Ladysmith Black Mambazo gets 439 Google Books results, this song pulls up only 4 results, one of which is "Pop singer Leona Lewis saves a bunny from a homeless guy In Los Angeles who was planning to eat it." which maybe should be added to the article. :) In ictu oculi (talk) 09:09, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply
