Anyone know why Xavier Beitia is listed under notable alumni? Doesn't seem like he's done anything notable... --billso 09:07, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Xavier Beitia was a kicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2006 preseason --63.146.177.244 15:12, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there no mention of the Jesuit Masque / Drama Department in the clubs and organizations section? --GBabyRulez 03:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because that club is not notable and therefore goes against the wikipedia rules. --128.227.146.109 19:43, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Charles[reply]

How is it not notable? The Jesuit Masque is just as important and noteworthy as any of the other school activities, and its absence from this article makes the article incomplete. The article is about Jesuit High School of Tampa, and therefore should include ALL of the extracurricular activities the school offers, especially the Drama program. If mention does not appear on the article soon I will write it myself.

It isn't recognized with any awards like the athletic stuff, so it's not objective. Also, Mr. Harris is soon leaving the drama program, so you might want to hold off on writing it because you'll have to rewrite it soon enough.--DevCharles 18:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Frankly, most of the clubs, including the Masque, mentioned by name should be removed. There is no need to mention school organizations of the sort that are found at every high school. The only ones that should be mentioned are those that are somehow extraordinary, such as the athletic programs that have won championships and the Key Club which has been recognized numerous times. There are, of course, other circumstances that might deserve mention; for instance, if a club was the first of its kind in the region or something of that nature it might be worth inclusion. All other clubs should at most be mentioned in a blanket statement that says that the school maintains a number of extracurricular clubs and organizations. Emtilt 06:31, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know for a fact that Frankie Silvestri graduated Jesuit High School in 1999 and was arrested in Orlando for murder in 2004. He is now jailed in Alachua county and can be looked up at http://www.circuit8.org/inmate.html --63.146.177.244 14:47, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frankie Silvestri was again deleted... what sort documentation are you looking for? I dont see any for the other alumni.

Mr. Cruz, Mr. Charette, and Mr. Mann should all be mentioned. Also, Mr. Kranz deserves far more attention, if nobody else.

You guys need to read wikipedia policies:

  • entries about living people
  • all entries need to be verifiable
  • and the sources have to be of a certain type
  • you cannot just add something because you know it is true... No original research

--Blue Tie 01:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There should be more mention of the great teachers. The teachers are what make Jesuit High School. Mention Mr. Cruz and Mr. Charette. And there should be an entire section of the legacy of Coach Kranz. Maybe somebody should just make Kranz his own page.

Picture in Athletics Section

Someone either shrink the picture, pop a caption on it, and put it on the side, or delete it.fish 21:06, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citations please

Listen guys, if you want to add stuff that speaks positively about the school, you have to give some citations for it. It's just that simple. --DeviantCharles (talk) 11:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed Bernie Mac from the list of prominent alumni because I haven't found any sources indicating that he ever attended this school (or any other high school in Tampa). --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given that he would have been there at the same time as me, I'm pretty sure he wasn't, just FWIW. Not that the claim has reappeared in the subsequent three years, but still. --Ray Radlein (talk) 15:40, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-neutral and poorly cited

I've marked this article as non-neutral. It is heavily editorial, and almost none of what it says is cited. Most of the achievements and names are also entirely non-notable. This article appears to be written entirely by people affiliated with this school for the purpose of making it sound good. -128.138.65.221 (talk) 20:18, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dervaes and Malenko

Not only did Jules Dervaes attend Jesuit, he was the Class of 1965 Validictorian for goodnes sake![1] Many years ago he taught me in 6th grade. At the time, he discussed with me the possibly attending JHS.

Dean Malenko (aka Dean Simon) attended JHS with my older brother and can also be found in the JHS yearbooks of the mid 1970's. [2] About 3/4 of the way down of the cited ref is where it mentions he attended JHS.

Maybe in the future we should ALL include the year of graduation of "Notable Alumni" so that the random adding and deleting of people will stop. Moreover, as much as I love my alma mater, there is no parameter to the section "Notable Alumni" that states it should only include the "good" or "successful" or "men for others" type of alumni. It merely says notable. In fact I would go on to say that a notable alumnus within this construct (i.e. Wikipedia) would most often be those that have their own (or are a big part of other) wikipedia pages. Let our sterling reputation sell JHS on its own. Wikipedia is not meant to be a biased JHS propaganda tool. It should contain facts.
