For a British film, four Americans in character parts is significance. To write that "Robert Vaughn, who plays Casca, and Richard Chamberlain, who plays Octavius, are the only Americans in the film other than Robards and Heston" is not only illogical but misleading. Why not say instead that there were four Americans in leading roles: Charlton Heston, etc"?Royalcourtier (talk) 06:58, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nudity in this film?
This sentence was in this article: "Considerable male and female nudity was filmed, resulting in pre-release publicity, but the version exhibited in America lacked all such scenes." I find this considerably doubtful, since this was a high-budget prestige film with an A list cast in 1970. I highly doubt they got Sir John Gielgud to do Shakespeare in the nude. I checked the reference, which is a single line from a book Epic Films by Gary Allen Smith. Smith provides no references for this assertion. None of the contemporary reviews of the film, including the NYT and Ebert reviews cited in the article, mention anything about nudity. Since their basic critique of the film is that it was exceedingly milquetoast, if nudity had been featured in pre-release publicity they likely would have said something about it. I was not able to find any sort of pre-release publicity for the film online to confirm or deny this nudity assertion. In sum, this sentence is at best unconfirmed and at worst fabricated by Gary Allen Smith. It should not be featured on the Wikipedia entry, and I have removed it.
