New Revision

I've edited this article to remove a fictional comment, which claimed that Sir Alex was killed in a boating accident: "However this feud ended with the death of Sir Alex in June 2013. Marca were for a time implicated in the suspcicious cirumstances of the boating accident which claimed his life.[3] - in reference to the alleged tapping-up of Cristiano Ronaldo." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.117.143.129 (talk) 03:51, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I´ve edited this article for for an incredible biased comment on it.

From seriousness to bias Formerly deemed as a serious newspaper, MARCA is today, like its fellow sport newspaper from Madrid AS, a weapon at the service of Real Madrid. From the middle 1950’s to the late 1980's, being the Spanish league dominated by Real Madrid, MARCA didn't feel the necessity of openly supporting Real Madrid. But once “the Whites” lost this control to FC Barcelona in the early 90's, the successive boards that took over MARCA, made out of well known Real Madrid-supporting journalists, decided to do their best to make Real Madrid recover their dominance. Ever since most of the information has been manipulated, several campaigns have been launched against FC Barcelona and they have tried to win the referees over to the cause of Real Madrid. MARCA is today renowned for its biased reports and articles, particularly if it comes to attack FC Barcelona and support Real Madrid. Since it’s reckoned that more than 33% of the Spanish population support Real Madrid, MARCA has become the most sold newspaper in Spain even though the information they provide is arguable no reliable. For instance, they anticipated and published in the front page that 2009 winner of the Ballon d’Or was Xavi Hernández (FC Barcelona) in order to destabilize the FC Barcelona players before an important match. However everybody in the world of football knew that the winner was actually Leo Messi. MARCA claims that FC Barcelona is helped by the referees in each game they play and that this is the main reason why they win titles that otherwise would be won by Real Madrid.

Biased arguments without any proof on it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.224.111.230 (talk) 11:38, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just took out the whole section about bias, except for the portion about Ferguson which appears documented. I don't doubt that MARCA is pro-Madrid and I don't doubt that Wikipedia authors can find quotes from authorities claiming it, but until they cite those it's not really appropriate to leave in a PoV commentary about bias. - Regards, PhilipR (talk) 19:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
