Tollesby is within the Acklam Ward (as in the Tollesby estate near Acklam Hall). I dont know if there is an actual ward or area south of the Constituency border called Tollesby. Could someone clarify? 82.4.107.152, 12/03/2006

I included Tollesby as election-maps.co.uk showed the area labelled by the OS as Tollesby as being part of the Kader ward, and south east of the constituency boundary (which divides the ward). It may be that the area colloquially known as Tollerby isn't the same as that marked on the Ordnance Survey maps / other online mapping. Paulleake 00:14, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lauren Dingsdale

@

WP:COMMONNAME, is there any justification for continuing to refer to her as Lauren Louise De Thibault de Boesinghe? ST47 (talk) 18:24, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply
]

This nomination sheet referrs to her as De Thibault de Boesinghe. --RaviC (talk) 18:26, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to list both: a legal name and a "commonly known as", and [1] was published at the same date, by the same government office, and only uses Lauren Dingsdale? ST47 (talk) 18:37, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's utterly confusing, to say the least. Perhaps we need to list both. --RaviC (talk) 18:59, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I don't think it is that confusing.
MOS:NAMES (for the lead sentence of the article about a person) both tell us to use the name by which a person is best known. Thankfully, @OrkneyLad1996: has sorted it out. ST47 (talk) 19:43, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply

Usually, the election boxes show the official name on the ballot. Either way, I'm not too concerned. --RaviC (talk) 19:49, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The link you put a few replies above was the Agents pdf not the Statement of Persons Nominated. That (https://www.middlesbrough.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Elections-2019-parliamentary-Persons-Nominated-Notice-Poll-Polling-Stations-Mbro-South.pdf) shows how her name will appear on the ballot paper, and it's "Dingsdale". doktorb wordsdeeds 19:59, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change Labour Hold to Conservative Hold !

Or is this the Chinese version of Wikipedia ? 212.105.168.7 (talk) 18:30, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done, I have corrected the party on the hold. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by your other comment, but in the future please keep your comments to the content. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 18:56, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • What I think should be changed: In the General election 2019: Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland table, "Lauren de Boesinghe" should be "Lauren Dingsdale".
  • Why it should be changed: Lauren Dingsdale ran for this seat under the name Lauren Dingsdale. Lauren de Boesinghe is part of her married name. This is not a name she has ever used politically. It was on the official paperwork as it is a name that is on her passport. It was not on the ballot paper because she was not standing under that name. This would be the same as using "Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson" rather than his chosen political name of "Boris Johnson".

The source at Middlesbrough Council uses both her full name and "commonly known as" so Wikipedia is fine with using her original name. See : https://www.middlesbrough.gov.uk/elections/election-results/2019-member-parliament-middlesbrough doktorb wordsdeeds 20:14, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the name shown on the page to that used in the IP's references shown above, as it appears to reflect that used most commonly, and footnoted the name shown in Doktorbuk's reference as an aka. XAM2175 (T) 16:41, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
