this is a pretty boring wiki but i like it anyway

columella

"The nasal septum, sometimes also called columella...": IMO, nasal septum and columella are not synonyms, but columella is the lower (fleshy) border of the nasal septum (see e.g. http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/columella and other medical dictionaries). Thanks for correcting. Ahschulz 05:47, 4 May 2007 (UTC)ahschulz[reply]

Mradyfist

Is piercing of the septum really all that common? It seems fairly rare to me. Also, shouldn't it be "in teenage years" instead of "and teenage years"?

Nose picking

Is this mention a case of vandalism or is this part for real? It sounds just not right to this layman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.153.51.43 (talk) 20:08, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

function?

this article does not explain the purpose/benefit of having the nostril separation, or other function of the nasal septum. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.14.106 (talk) 06:51, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with
Ossification of vomer

I have proposed this merge, between the 'ossification' page and this article, because:

  • There is no need for the information on ossification to be hidden away on a separate article. This means the information is not presented as it could be, and it is needlessly fragmented.
  • It is standard on Anatomy pages, and recommended in
    WP:MEDMOS#Anatomy
, for 'Development' sections to be displayed on the same page.
  • Additionally, this page is small and it would give more context to have the information displayed in a central location, rather than hidden on a separate article.
  • If necessary, the article on ossification could be expanded at a later date.
