It is interpolated throught the track, it is clearly sourced by multiple references, and it is also illustrated by the audio sample. General notes:

• The article isn't in chronological order. It starts with background, then goes to release, but then it goes back to recording. If you think it works this way then no change needed, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

Lead:

• Perry's indifference to her haters – This feels informal. If there's a specific quote, that might work. But the best option would probably be to write "indifference to her critics" or something like that.
  • Done.
• An apocalyptic music video – I suggest removing "apocalyptic".
  • If I understand correctly "apocalyptic" means that the world is coming to an end, just like in the video, so I would leave it here.

Background and release:

• while she was publicly scrutinized – In what way?
  • Removed.
• the singer started struggling with situational depression – The alliteration here is distracting. Maybe swap "struggling" with more neutral language like "experiencing".
  • Changed.
• Battling the condition – Likewise, "battling" is euphemistic and not used in formal writing about health

• being an attempt to lift herself up – One more that could use simpler tone.

Recording and composition:

Critical reception:

• This article generally does okay here, but I like to recommend

  for advice on how to organize reception sections rather than have them be a sequence of unrelated quotes.
  • To be honest, this section was disorganized before, but during this year I made adjustments to it, so it would feel more sensible; the first paragraph is filled with positive reviews (during my English classes, I was tought to talk about positives first), the second paragraph focuses on lyrics, while the last two are more chaotic, but overally negative-nodding to the track's placement within the album or its production elements.
• usage of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" elements – Not clear what this means
  • I used "elements" instead of "interpolation", since it was used frequently in the section, and I wanted to use a synonym. Additionally, Smille album booklet refers to the interpolation this way.

Music video:

• Zooey Deschanel and Bob Roth of Transcendental Meditation (TM) – Why was Bob Roth here? Is he relevant to the song? Also, "Transcendental Meditation" seems to link to a concept rather than a specific organization, and it's unnecessary to define an abbreviation here.
  • Adjusted.
• including Teenage Dream looks – Would "her appearance in Teenage Dream" be correct here? That would work better grammatically.
  • Changed.

Verifiable with no original research

There's no consensus about whether Evening Standard is a reliable source. I won't mark it against the review, but it would be good to find a better source if possible.

Spot checks:

• [2] Gray – I don't see where it supports its use in the body. The footnote is good.
  • Removed.
• [17] Corcoran – Does this support that it's the third track from Smile?
  • It does not exclusively say that it is the third single off the album, but it says it is the latest single.
• [25] Lipshutz – Does this support disco and techno? The use of the most memorable on Smile is a misrepresentation of the source; it says some of the most memorable, which carries a very different meaning.
  • Billboard source supports trap-influenced production; the quote in reception section has been adjusted.
• [27] Brown – Good.
• [32] News International – The first use is clumped with three other sources, which makes it difficult to verify. The second use said that the fans supported, but the article says "many" did. It doesn't say whether it was fans or critics.
  • I decided to use all of those sources in one sentence, to avoid creating same-sounding multiple sentences, while News International support staying strong in the sentence. While for "many", I assumed it must refer to fans, since the whole article is based on their opinion + they are mentioned in the article's title.
• [44] Burton – Supports Similar but Different but not October 2020. I don't see where it supports the release date of the clip.
  • October 2020 is supported by [42], while release date is supported by [44], hence the article was written on December 21, while the writer said it was out "today".
• [52] Alston – Where does this support When a toy drops from the carriage, Deschanel picks it up wanting to give it back to Perry?
  • Removed.
