Short
When you put on a spread you are
Short selling stocks have nothing to do with it. Can’t we get somebody in here that knows what they are talking about? GT
- I do know what I'm talking about. "Short selling" applies to futures too. When people say "short" it is simply a quicker way of saying "short selling". Please stop trying to use the article short selling if you like. Rhobite16:03, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
Short is not short selling
Just about the whole short-selling article is about stocks. You borrow them and sell them. You end up with a short position. However, when we short something in futures we BUY a contract that comes with it an obligation to deliver something in the future at today’s price. Stock speculators actually sell something. Futures speculators are buying something.
Short selling. GT
- I think you should create Long (futures) then, and put information in them which accurately describes the futures market. Be bold, change Wikipedia for the better! Taking action is better than complaining. Rhobite19:11, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
- I agree with Rhobite, but shouldn't this page be decomposed anyway? Since it actually defines the words is it really {{disambig}} at the moment?
