The Topp Twins appearance

It's important to note that the Topp Twins were featured in the second audition episode. They were interviewed while waiting in line with Cameron and they were brought out onto stage. They weren't treated the same as the friends and family of other contestants. While they weren't featured in the same way that Ronan Keating was in episode 1, they were the only family members of a contestant who were deliberately featured (even appearing in TV3's promos). I think the description "special appearance" accurately describes both Ronan Keating and the Topp Twins appearances. Robyn2000 (talk) 23:57, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category names

For reference, the four categories are: Girls, Boys, Over-25s and Groups. The capitalisation and punctuation is based on the guidelines at

Wikipedia:WikiProject The X Factor, cross referenced with the names used on the official X Factor website.[1] Robyn2000 (talk) 01:31, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply

Judges' retreats section format

Based on the Wikipedia pages for other countries' versions of The X Factor, there are two ways of presenting the information for the judges' retreats round. One way is a list, the other way is a table. Countries that use the list format include

USA
. The list format works best when there isn't much information to convey - just the list of eliminated acts. The table format works best when there's more information to convey - the location, assistants and the eliminated contests.

An unregistered user (IP: 86.160.244.159) has been replacing the table with the list and added the remaining information in a paragraph with lots of TBCs where the missing information will go. This is really messy and is a poor quality Wikipedia entry. The table format is far better suited to the New Zealand version of The X Factor. It presents the data in the simplest form and doesn't require cumbersome paragraphs explaining what's happening.

In the interests of this not turning into an edit war, I'd like to discuss the format options with 86.160.244.159. I've made my case above, but I'd like to hear the argument in favour of the other format, and what your opinion is on the table format. Comments from other users are very welcome. The simple list format was used in the UK articles because I was originally against having a table when the information is already presented as prose. However, the consensus was to also include a table as a quick reference. Therefore it's my opinion that the table should remain in the article. The UK pages tend to include the prose as well. If edit warring continues, the page could be protected from editing, or individual editors could be blocked. –anemoneprojectors– 08:11, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is completely irrelevant to this article, but do you know any of the percentages or who has placed where during the voting? I know that Jackie has topped the votes 7 times out of 10. If you know, could you put that information on the page please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.193.166.57 (talk) 22:38, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I like this layout! This is some impressive table wrangling. I have updated with the new layout. Robyn2000 (talk) 10:16, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wild card vote

Let's discuss this. I don't think it's appropriate to have details of the wildcard vote in the table for the weekly results for the live shows as the wildcard was not part of the live shows. Both the voting and the announcement of the wildcard took place before the live shows started, with Fletcher there right from the beginning of the first live show as a fully fledged finalist. Unsourced voting percentages

Over the past few weeks, a user (or possibly several users) has been adding weekly rankings and voting percentages to the

results summary table. While these results look potentially authentic, a reference has never been given so their authenticity cannot be confirmed. I've thoroughly searched and to the best of my knowledge, TV3 have not yet made this information public. Until this information can we confirmed by a reliable source, please refrain from updating the page with rankings and percentages. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources for more information on citing sources. Robyn2000 (talk) 06:04, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply

These edits persist, still with no source provided for them. There is actually no way to tell if this is authentic data or if it's been made up - and weirdly enough, making up stats like this is the sort of thing that some people do, so you can see why it's so important to have a legit source. And this is still happening. If you're the person who's been adding this information, please discus this here. Robyn2000 (talk) 08:03, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Show Infobox

I think you should use the reality music competition infobox instead of the talent show one, as they are completely different from each other. The X Factor Australia page uses that type of infobox and I think it would be better suited for The X Factor NZ to use it as well. 122.62.38.14 (talk) 10:03, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed—you're welcome to go ahead and perform the edits yourself.
