Although a very watchable film, I was curious to find out if it was a realistic portrayal of events at that time. I did some research into Thomas Fairfax and decided to include a section covering what Fairfax's role actually was in the execution of Charles I and during Cromwell's Protectorate. The two main characters are far from reality. Cromwell is devil, haha. Fairfax is a perfectly fair man? NO.

After the Siege of Colchester the terms of surrender were that:

The Lords and Gentlemen were all prisoners of mercy.
