Computer Disambiguation
I made a disambiguation page because the word "tuxedo" has a meaning in computer science. I thought redirecting to "black tie" was rude. Hope nobody minds. -- lenehey
- The reader of Wikipedia who enters "Tuxedo" is probably looking for a middleware platform in computers anyway, don't you suppose... -Wetman01:21, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I've made the page a redirect to Black tie based on the 'what links here' page, which was link after link intending to point to the formal wear. Deltabeignet 01:17, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Dont you think that those links should then be changed to "black tie" if that is the intention? Since "tuxedo" has many meanings including:
- Im a reader of wikipedia i entered tuxedo and guess what? i ahd no idea a tuxedo was a computer progrAm as it is normally used to refer to a suit/pants/tie thing which i dont know ow to describe. Dappled Sage 23:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

This looks like being another case of an American term pushing out a British one. For example, James Bond tuxedo to go on sale, from BBC News a few days ago. Younger Britons are (in my experience) using the American term primarily now. 86.136.249.138 00:54, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Also, the correct 'British' English term for it is not "dinner jacket and matching trousers", it is "dinner suit". If no one has any objections I shall alter that. And some of the places I've been would crucify anyone who thought that a cream or white suit was acceptable - no matter how hot the weather! Fluffdragon 19:47, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Ghastly
Tuxedo is one of those words described to me at school many years ago as ghastly. To use it is in the same league as calling a lavatory a 'toilet'. --218.102.23.126 09:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Formal v. Semi-Formal
If a Tuxedo is semi-formal then what is formal? 2605:6000:1900:8AE:8425:D255:2433:5C5E (talk) 19:01, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
