Crystallographic shear / displacive phase transformations

The Magneli phases are examples of crystallographic shear and were the first examples found, by Arne Magneli. These are phases where the stoichiometry is changed without changing the cations primary coordination. Displacive phase transformations on the other hand involve no change in stoichiometry. --Axiosaurus (talk) 17:08, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question about the nomenclature!

Why is it Vanadium (V) Pentoxide? Shouldn't it just be "Vanadium (V) Oxide"? It's an Ionic compound. Jakebarrington (talk) 20:10, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
