Working towards NPOV

In conjunction with Bearian I've edited this page to remove the perceived advertisement slant. I think it's getting there - though it wasn't all that blatant in the first place, compared to some I've seen! Not sure if we should keep the curriculum list, and also not sure about the external links, which are, after all to for-profit sites. What do others think? Smalljim 22:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think's it's fair to have commercial, for-profit entities on external links. I shortened the curriculum list to cut out most of the red links and keep all the blue links, but such lists are fine for college and university web sites. I, too, am concerned that an advertising tone does not make a NPOV. The original article was probably cribbed from the college's website -- as noted on the history page. I'll take another crack at it another day. I should tell you folks that I have a potential
proprietary college. I am trying not to promote our sector of education, but Virginia College is neither a direct competitor nor my employer. I should also alert you all that my college is a member of APC and ERCBEC. See my user page at Bearian for more info.Bearian 23:32, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply

Query to whomever: When does a link to a commercial site become spam as in <notwiki>{clear-spam}</notwiki>? Bearian 16:12, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the tag from advert to tone. Bearian (talk) 20:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have reviewed the edit request, and implemented the following changes: added logo and motto, updated the number of students, and added the trades programs, making use of the citation offered. However, I decided not to implement some of the other changes requested, such as the ownership changes described above, which was due to some of the content there being openly promotional, and although present on college website(s) (or other related sources), unsuitable for Wikipedia. I have also not added the culinary programs courses - I could not find any mention of them in the citation offered.
