Parameters

This template has a number of parameters, all of which are optional:

  • name - The name that will appear above the top line of the infobox
  • image - The filename for the infobox image. Use the bare image name, i.e. |Example.jpg= not |[[File:Example.jpg]]=
  • alt -
    alternative text
    for the image, displayed when the image cannot be shown (such as for visually impaired users, or for spoken articles)
  • imagesize - The size of the image in pixels (as in "| imagesize = 200"), default value is 300; to use the image's actual size, specify imagesize as a blank value (as in "| imagesize = ").
  • caption - The image caption that will be displayed
  • hatnote - A label-less centered text field for notices
  • locomotive - The locomotive which the tender was originally designed for, or first used with
  • designer - The name of the tender's designer, often the same as the locomotive designer
  • builder - The tender builder, often the same as the locomotive builder
  • worksnumber - The tender builder's works number(s)
  • date - Date(s) the tender entered service. Use {{Start date}} (and {{End date}} if applicable).
  • rebuiltfrom - Type rebuilt from
  • rebuilder - Who rebuilt the tender, e.g. with larger tanks
  • rebuilddate - Date of rebuilding
  • rebuiltto - Type rebuilt to
  • wheelarr - The wheel arrangement, e.g. 3-axle, 2-axle bogies/trucks, etc.
  • gauge - The track gauges on which the tender operated; use the {{track gauge}} template
  • length - The tender's total length between the coupler/drawbar faces
  • width - The tender's maximum width
  • height - The tender's maximum height above the railhead
  • trucks - USA terminology: The type of trucks
  • bogies - British terminology: The type of bogies
  • wheeldiameter - The diameter of the tender's wheels
  • wheelbase - The tender's total wheelbase
    • truck - USA terminology: The wheelbase of each truck
    • bogie - British terminology: The wheelbase of each bogie
    • rigid - Wheelbase of the rigid wheels in, e.g., a 2-8-2 wheel configuration
  • axleload - maximum axle load
    • truckload - USA terminology: Use when both trucks carry the same load
    • bogieload - British terminology: Use when both bogies carry the same load
    • truck 1 - USA terminology: Front truck load - usually given per truck, i.e. total for all its axles
    • bogie 1 - British terminology: Front bogie load - usually given per bogie, i.e. total for all its axles
    • truck 2 - USA terminology: Rear truck load - if given per axle, rather use the per-axle parameters
    • bogie 2 - British terminology: Rear bogie load - if given per axle, rather use the per-axle parameters
    • axle 1 - 1st axle load, for load per individual tender axle
    • axle 2 - 2nd axle load
    • axle 3 - 3rd axle load
    • axle 4 - 4th axle load
    • axle 5 - 5th axle load
    • axle 6 - 6th axle load
  • tenderempty - The weight of the tender empty
  • tenderworking - The weight of the tender in working order, with full tank and maximum fuel load
  • fueltype - The type of fuel that the tender carries (coal, furnace oil, wood, etc.)
  • fuelcap - The tender's fuel capacity
  • watercap - The tender's water capacity
  • stoking - Use "Manual", "Mechanical", etc. if applicable
  • coupling - The type of coupling system
  • operator - The operator(s) (railroad/railway/industry/company) who used the tender
  • fleetnumbers - The vehicle numbers assigned by the operator
  • nicknames - Nicknames given to the tender
  • notes - text box for infobox footnotes, if needed
