Reaoning for removing diacritics
One error doesn't explain the other. Just because the redirects are created in the wrong way that doesn't qualify you to ruin the rest of the encyclopedic material elsewhere on Wikipedia. That is that simple. Those gold medalists weren't christened with names without without diacritics.
