Need help with what you mean on this. I have been exporting templates for use on our private wiki instance using the Special pages -> Export pages and export both the template or module and the doc. There are two parts to this instruction I am not clear on.

1. The term at the top of the column "Edit summary" which contains several of these

2. What is copy from [[:en:Template:Reflist]]?

3. How to you use the "copy from"? I tested a new page and placed this on it. thought I might be doing something like Subst but it just created a link back to the Wikipedia version.

Is this some extra step above using Export Pages or will doing that suffice?

On an external Wiki do I need to bring in the version as some are quite huge or should they be fine with just the current?— Preceding unsigned comment added by WikimeSteve (talkcontribs)

Those are for
attribution purposes and recommended to be added to edit summary before saving the page. The interwiki will work for Wikimedia projects but in your case copy pasting the url of the permalink into the edit summary should suffice, for example https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Reflist&oldid=794499661 for template reflist. If you use Special:Export and select to export the full history then that should cover the attribution.--Lam-ang (talk) 07:17, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply
