History

The foundation was established by Farmers Insurance Group co-founder Thomas E. Leavey and his wife Dorothy E. Risley Leavey in 1952.[1][2] It has donated more than $200 million to institutions and charitable causes.[1]

It is chaired by Kathleen McCarthy Kostlan, the daughter of Dorothy and Thomas E. Leavey.[3]

Despite the foundation's donations mainly remaining anonymous, some of the recipients of the foundations gifts are:
