Introduction

JK 1971 is a full-length feature film, which is the first ever international film based on Bangladesh Liberation War and its refugee issue.

Plot

The movie is about an incident which happened in Paris Orly Airport on December 03, 1971 where Jean Kay, a French activist, hijacked a PIA plane and demanded 20 Ton of medicine and baby food for the Children of Bangladesh who were in Calcutta Refugee camp.

Themes

This film depicted the effects of 1971 war from a humanitarian perspective, through the actions of a French Citizen inspired by Andre Malraux, a politically renowned person and activist. The film also explores different perspectives on the events of the time through the experiences of different characters, including passengers on the hijacked plane.

Outcome

The French government eventually sent the necessary aid to save the children of Bangladesh in 1971, although Jean Kay was arrested and jailed for his hijacking. Despite the serious themes, the film contains humorous moments and unique messages, making it a thought-provoking and engaging work.
