Idea Description (not article draft):
I will be creating an article for Medellín Comuna 13. My topic’s Wikipedia page in English is a single small paragraph. In the Spanish version, I think the article is also a bit underdeveloped and has about 6 small sections and I think that a large amount of information about the neighborhood’s history and tensions is left out of the article. The neighborhood really has a lot of history that should be included and displayed for the world to see. A community of migrants that had lots of troubles with guerilla groups and Narcos in the area. Political tensions flaring with the profiling of young people who may look or dress like a certain group of people. Disappearances, government military raids and operations like Orion that is completely left out of the Comuna 13 Wikipedia, and the English Wikipedia, resulting in great violence and instability in the community. With social projects and a community-based approach, Comuna 13 has vastly improved, and tells the story of a vibrant community, with graffiti and art, that has flourished through great adversity. Today, it is a also a great tourist destination in the city of Medellín, and if you search up things to do in Medellín, visiting Comuna 13 is a top option that comes up, another reason why I feel that the neighborhood needs an easily accessible English article, that will come up easily.
