- User-contributed websites forums, bulletin boards, Wordpress and family tree sites
- Self-published books and articles without independent fact-checking
- Material written by friends, relatives, etc.
- Personal opinions of non-experts, such as blogs, letters to the editor
- Promotional material - press releases, publishers' blurbs, upcoming event announcements, etc.
- Personal interviews, letters, emails, personal websites, social media, etc.
Criteria for people
- Wikipedia:Notability (people)
- notability not inherited from famous relatives
- Extensive published information from several acceptable sources (Edwin C. Guillet)
If your ancestor doesn't qualify
- Add information to an existing article. (e.g., Cream of Barley Mill)
- must be at least some independent published sources
- Put information on another website.
