Al Hartgraves is Professor Emeritus of Business at

Linz, Austria) and Helsinki School of Economics (now Aalto University School of Business) (Helsinki, Finland). He taught in many of Emory’s open-enrollment and custom executive education programs. Hartgraves published more than 60 academic/professional articles and books, and during his academic career held several administrative positions, including Acting Dean of the Goizueta Business School (1989). In awarding him the University Scholar/Teacher award (2002), Emory University President Bill Chase lauded his contributions to the school “as an administrator, a teacher and a researcher.”[2]

Hartgraves received his undergraduate (1967) and master's (1968) degrees in accounting from the

Columbia, SC), and a Ph.D. degree (1975) in accounting from Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA). He was awarded an honorary doctorate (2011) from Johannes Kepler University (Linz, Austria).[3] He holds professional certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (inactive) and a Certified Management Accountant
(CMA).

Hartgraves authored or co-authored academic and professional publications in leading academic and professional accounting journals, including
