Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh is an Indian politician and a member of the Indian National Congress, nation's one of the two major political parties. She is a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and is notable for being the only woman legislator.

Biography

Lyngdoh is a daughter of former

Member of Parliament and the president of the All India Catholic Union Peter G. Marbaniang.[1]

She is an alumni of

Political career

Lyngdoh was the leader of the state wing of the

independent candidate Malcolm B. Tariang by a difference of 1593 votes. She garnered 34.10% of total valid votes. Nicky Lyngdoh, candidate of INC, came third with a total of 1491 votes.[3] She later rejoined the Congress after her meeting with party president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. She resigned from her legislatorship on 1 April 2009.[4]
