I'm writing this as a personal essay at User:Cabayi/RFA No on a day when there are no RFAs running. This is not directed at your vote specifically, but making a point about No-vote reasons generally, which you may wish to consider. Cabayi (talk) 19:54, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

I see you've voted against the candidate's RFA but not given much of a reason. The RFA will go one of two ways,

  • Pass - the nomination will pass and the candidate will not need to give any thought to your objections ever again. You have a short window in which they are guaranteed to be receptive (or at least to give serious consideration) to your opinions.
  • Fail - the nomination is unsuccessful. Maybe the candidate will make another attempt, but even if they don't they're a pretty experienced and active editor. Either way, wouldn't you like to see them resolve your objections?

With the best will in the world, few of us raise issues with other editors unless the situation has escalated. This is your chance to nudge the candidate towards being the editor you'd like them to be and the candidate you'd like to see at their next RFA. If your point is serious enough you could be saving the community from making a mistake.

Either way, the period while the RFA is running is when your point will be most impactful. It's up to you to decide how much you value the issue which prompted your Oppose vote, and to add weight to it.
