User:Coppertwig/Notices

Source: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I'll post notices from time to time at User:Coppertwig/Notices about my activities or about things I think may be interesting to Wikipedians. I'll plan not to edit it often, so that it will be easier to watchlist it than my talkpage. I got the idea of a Notices page from Abd; see User:Abd/Notices.

September 2009

  • An arbitration case in which I participated (though not as a party) has just concluded: full decision is at
Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Abd-William M. Connolley; brief summary is on the arb noticeboard
    .
  • The page
First Roumanian-American congregation, written by Jayjg and with which I helped a little with the editing, is now a featured article candidate; discussion is here

Proofreading offer

I've been accused of having a tendency to quibble over details. Well, put that to good use! If you ever want someone to quibble over details (i.e. proofread/copyedit an article), feel free to call on me. I like being asked to look over articles, and tend to come up with a lot of fiddly little changes. You can get an idea of what you'll be in for if you look at the comments I made going over these articles for example:

. The former became a featured article after I fiddled with it, so I must not have totally messed things up. The latter might become the first featured article written by a banned user. I also made even smaller changes directly to each article. There's no guarantee that I'll have time, or that I won't get into content disputes.

Judea/Samaria placename guidelines

Comments from more editors would be helpful. I've moved the draft guidelines to a separate page,

Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration/Placename guidelines
and refactored the discussion on the talk page. (The top of the talk page has the older discussion; lower sections contain my refactored/summarized versions of the discussion, to which people are welcome to add more comments.) I'll probably start a policy RfC on it within a few weeks, but hope to get consensus for a single version of the wording first. Opinions from more editors could help to work out consensus wording.

Neutrality enforcement

Discuss ideas on how to enforce neutrality policy: Wikipedia:Neutrality enforcement. My own suggestion is here: Modification: Edits are paired up.

April 2009

  • I've proposed draft guidelines for the use of the terms "West Bank", "Samaria" and "Judea". Please participate in discussion here. See also current Arbcom case, in which I've been participating.
  • Flagged revisions: a poll for a two-month trial has been closed with strong support for a trial. Implementation details are being worked out here.
  • I've participated in a user-conduct RfC about JzG; JzG has started an MfD discussion here to delete the RfC (21:00, 5 April 2009 (UTC))
  • I plan to be on wikibreak Monday to Thursday each week for several weeks.
