Infobox group: redesign
Today, the infobox for our PT groups ({{
table
. It has various sets of data (group properties, list of elements, element properties).
I propose to make a major design change: splitting the Infobox into a core regular Infobox, and an element data table in article body.
- Useful links
- Template:Infobox periodic table group/testcases (currently groups 1, 3, 14, 18)
- Category:Groups (periodic table) (41)
- Current problems
- It is a html table not a css Infobox, the infobox is cluncky and not flexible. css-based boxes are responsive (for example, adjust by screen size including mobile screens).
- A WP:INFOBOXis supposed to give overvirew, not complete listings.
- The infobox cannot present our data clearly. It is not suitable for overview lists we want to show (think: show member element's m.p., b.p. column-wise to compare).
- Proposals
- Change from wikitable into {{Infobox}} at all costs
- Split info into: "Infobox" and a "Group elements properties table". The table is in article body text, think dedicated section like "==Member elements==".
- Later: detail which info should go where (which data in the infobox, which data in the table).
- Basic example
- Examples of good data table:
- Discussion
- 1. !vote to change to {{Infobox}}
- 2. !vote & discus the Infobox-vs-table split
- 3. (Later) refine which data goes into Infobox (=labels), which into table (=column headers).
