Eritrean Liberation Front
Article Evaluation
The lead is only 1 sentence that tells me what the Eritrean Liberation front was (but broadly). There is no description of the major sections. The lead should be expanded slightly to provide more detail as one does not learn much about the Eritrean Liberation front from the lead. Perhaps key leaders should be mentioned in the lead along with their roles in the Eritrean Liberation front. The content of the article give a very sparse history of the Eritrean Liberation front. Some leaders, like Hamid Idris Awate, are mentioned. However, little detail regarding who they were and what they did is provided. There is a lot of content missing, especially since this is supposed to be the key liberation movement. The article is neutral but it lacks detail. There are not many sources, just a few books published by the Cambridge University press. This means that the sources are primarily western and primary sources and sources from African media (such as the news and any news sources from the time of the Eritrean independence movement) should be added. The article has sections on the history and groups that splintered off of the ELF. This is good organization, however there needs to be more detail. For example, how did the groups that were mentioned having splintered off the ELF actually splinter off the ELF? Why and what are the impacts? What are these groups that are being mentioned? There is just a picture of the ELF flag and Eritrea seal. There should be pictures of key leaders of the ELF along with representations of key events from the media. The last post to the talk page was in 2016. So, no work is being done to fix this article. It is part of the military history Wikiproject. It has been rated start class and high importance. The last revision was in November 2022, which corrected a phrasing. Overall, the article is poorly developed. It gives a bare-bones overview of the ELF, but should be expanded dramatically to include more details regarding the ELF and more sources, especially sources from Eritrea during its liberation.
