In 2009, Blain designed, developed, and launched Girlfriend Social, a female friendship website,[3][4] stating, "Although there are many social networks online, most are designed to deal with business networking, dating, or connecting with people you already know…. There are very few sites that connect new friends."[5] The site is designed to allow women in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia to make new friends and has over 50,000 members as of May 2011.[6]

Google Plus

Blain joined Google Plus on its first day of official beta, June 29, 2011,[1] and was placed on Google's Suggested User List[8] under the technology category on December 15, 2011.[9] Blain is known for speaking about and promoting the platform,[10] calling it "a true Social Media platform."[1]

A frequent user of the hangouts feature on the Google Plus platform, Blain was voted by the community as "Number 1 Hangout User" in June, 2012.[11][12] She has met hundreds of people in real life after meeting virtually in a hangout first.[13] Blain is the 26th most followed person and the 10th most followed woman on Google Plus as of August 20, 2012.[14]
