NIKON D600 with AF Nikkor 35-105mm f3.5-4.5

The LCD is fixed and is of no help in awkward situations, like shooting over the head or low to the ground - limiting creativity.
Very extensive menu system with folder for latest changes, and two direct access USER definable camera settings.
Reports indicate that most D600s are inflicted with oil spots depositing on the image sensor, seen first after about thousand shutter activations mostly in the upper left image corner, which must be removed by Nikon Service personnel. After several thousand shots the spilling may diminish. It is presumably from excess oil in the mirror mechanism. - My D600 (ser.no.6020xxx) had at least thirty large 35-pixel diameter oil spots after 1000 shots. These were removed and mirror mechanism cleaned at a Professional Nikon Service Center, but a few new oil spots have already appeared.
Image detail and quality at 24Mp is absolutely superb, and hard to distinguish from the 24Mp Sony a77 using the best lenses.
This camera is a good choice for full frame (FX) lenses. However, in DX-mode it is a 10 Mp camera ( 1.5 x 1.5 = 2.25 conversion factor) while i.e. the D800 yields 16 Mp in DX-mode.
The problem is really the full-frame camera in general, which demands much larger and costlier lenses for good results than those needed for the smaller formats. At today's rate of image-sensor development, the APS-C format only lags about one generation behind the FF performance; making the smaller format a practical proposition for most purposes.
