I previously had a varied career as a polytechnic lecturer in maths and computing, then as a systems programmer for a couple of financial institutions in Docklands. Although familiar with many programming languages, I found that my favourite by far was assembly language. For another twenty years I mixed teaching of programming and maths at City of Westminster College with heading a ceramics and general metalsmithing facility at Central YMCA.

I taught a weekly sculpture from life class from 2005-2009 at Putney School of Art and Design (PSAD).

For the most recent 20 years I have been selling sculptures and silverware at various galleries and art fairs in London, while teaching bronze and silver casting. I had myself been trained for ten years in Hatton Garden as a silversmith. I am now unwillingly retired until such time as I can find a dwelling with a workshop. I have a blog which gives insights into my metalsmithing past at https://jelf0.blogspot.com

Lastly, (so far), for over ten years I have been combining my love of maths with my love of pixels to produce digital pictures. Recently, my enthusiasm was somewhat dented by the arrival of AI, together with incredibly sophisticated 3D modelling programs.
