Rachel Joy Watson (About)

Rachel Joy Watson is the author of "Blue Tarp," a chapbook of poetry from Finishing Line Press (2016). She writes devotionally, paints her joy, and processes disenchantment, grief and courage through poetry. Rachel contributes articles on theology, faith, and pop culture to RELEVANT and The Gospel Coalition and is currently working on her MLitt. in theology at The University of St. Andrews.

Early Life

She grew up in a small town in northern California, wearing overalls, playing outside, searching for bugs and getting sunburned ritualistically. After receiving her B.A. in writing and studying at the University of Oxford for a summer, she began teaching high school English and has spent the last eight years trying to motivate her students to write and read bravely, always looking for connections between life and literature.

Blue Tarp (Book)

Blue Tarp is a collection of poems that follows the innocence of a young teacher in a young marriage into the experience of hard conversations, loss and divorce. Using imagery from her childhood growing up in northern California, Rachel Joy Watson explores her grief and growing pains.
