Master Sergeant J.L. Tartaglione graduated from Woodside High School in June of 1988 and entered the Army on February 16 1988. Following basic military training ay Ft. Benning, Georgia, his first duty assignment was with the 75th Ranger Regiment also at Ft. Benning. After serving four years as a Ranger, he was recuited by 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment(Delta) in July of 1991, restationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and deployed to Baghdad,Iraq as part of "Operation Desert Storm". After Iraq, Sfc. J.L. Tartaglione was deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia as part of "Task Force Ranger" and portrayed in the movie "Black Hawk Down". He finished his career as part of "Operation Anaconda" in Kabul, Afghanistan when in October of 2003 a helicopter he was in took fire and went down. He is currently retired with the rank on Master Sergeant and living queitly in norther California.
