Casting and creation

in September 2015.In March 2015, a casting call was sent out by Daytime Confidential reported that Stowers had been let go from the soap, as part of a mass "bloodbath" following a writing regime change.
In December 2016, it was announced that shortly following her firing, Stowers had been contacted about rejoining the soap. On her return, Stowers expressed: "No one knew I was coming back, so it was a surprise for everyone." Upon news of Stowers' return, Michael Goldberg speculated that a casting call for the role of "Deanna" — sent out earlier in the year — had been an attempt by the soap to recast the role, before deciding to re-hire Stowers in the role.[3]
