Early Years

Michael Fabiano graduated from the

Ann Arbor he studied under renowned tenor George Shirley. In the summer immediately following graduation, he was an apprentice with the Santa Fe Opera, and in the fall of that same year he began his studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia
.

Career

Mr. Fabiano made his professional stage debut at the

as Alfredo followed.

In more recent seasons, Michael has been seen at the

, as well as a return to the English National Opera.


Awards

Mr. Fabiano was awarded a Grand Prize recipient of the 2005 Florida Grand Opera Competition Junior Division, and in 2006 he was the First Prize winner of the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation Competition and the José Carreras Prize for the Best Tenor in the Julián Gayarre Competition in

Pamplona, Spain. The following year he was First Place winner in the Loren Zachary Competition, the recipient of a George London Foundation Encouragement Award, a 2007 Sarah Tucker Study Grant, and was a first-prize winner of the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, a competition that was the subject of The Audition, a recently released documentary film[4]
. He is also the First Prize winner in the 2008 Opera Index Awards and was awarded the 2009 Grand Prize from the Gerda Lissner Foundation.
