Brock Soccer Club
The Brock Soccer Club is a youth, house-league soccer club. Founded in 1978, the club is based in Port Bolster, Ontario and predominantly serves the surrounding Brock Township communities.
History
The Brock Soccer Club was established in 1978.
Location
All soccer games take place at Ed Perry Memorial Fields in Port Bolster, Ontario. The fields are located directly across from the shore of Lake Simcoe. At the field, there are two soccer pitches, four stadium lights, a clubhouse, portable toilets, a parking area, and a playground[1]. The clubhouse houses all equipment storage, as well as the concession booth.
Structure
Rules and Regulations
The club follows the rules and regulations set out in Laws of the Game[2], the same rules and regulation that govern FIFA. Players are also expected to wear the proper equipment (team shirt, socks, shorts, shin guards, and soccer shoes). Players without the proper equipment are not permitted to play[2].
Seasons
Seasons run from late May to early August.[3] Games are played Monday to Thursday, with each division playing on a separate day. There are also two Saturday games each season: Picture day and the Final day.[4]
Players
To participate in the youth level, players must be between the ages of 3-18. Those above the age cutoff are eligible for the recreational adult league. All players, with the exceptions of adults, receive a team uniform, which consists of: a jersey, shorts, and socks.
Divisions
The club is separated into seven different divisions based on age: Under 5, Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 14, Under 18, and adult. Depending on the division, there are differences in field and net sizes, game minutes, and rules of play.
Sponsors
Each team is sponsored by a local business. The business' name is printed on the front of the team's jersey.
Coaches
Coaches are community volunteers[5]. They are responsible for contacting parents about scheduling and organizing practice times. It is also the coach's responsibility to keep track of their team's provided equipment (bag, balls, pylons, air-pump).
Referees
Candidates must be 14 years old as of March 31 of a given year in order to become a referee. They must also pass the Ontario Soccer Association referee course.[6]
