Shirleen Wangari (born 3 October 1986) is a Kenyan actress[1], producer and a screenwriter known for her role in television series called Tahidi High[2] on Citizen TV in Kenya. She is most notable for playing various naughty roles in several television series.
Early Life and Education
Shirleen Wangari was born on and raised in Nairobi. She she had her High School education at Maryhill Girls High School. She also studied Social Science majoring in Economics at Catholic University of Eastern Africa
Career
Shirleen came into the limelight playing a naughty high school student ‘Shish’ in a television show called Tahidi High on Citizen TV in Kenya. Six years later she had the chance again to star in a big Television show Shuga2 playing as Kipepeo for MTV[3] and Changes as Michaela for MNET[4]. In 2015 she up her game and had a role in Netflix Sense8 as a Sensate and also BBC’s The First Grader as Mama Wanjiku[5] she has also star in production like Wazi FM[6] which was the Winner for 2015 Zanzibar International Film Festival (The Golden Dhow Award for Best Feature Film; European African Film Festival Award for Best African Film and Signis Award for East African Talent Award), Zuku’s State House as Zandola, Kidnapett (Lost in Africa) as -Pimps’ girlfriend, The captain of Nakara as Muna[7], Shit Happens (You tube Web series) as Nanny Fryne, Baba Yao-KTN (Kenya) as Monica and Maisha Magic-Varshita as May. She got several nominations for best actress locally.
She started writing at ended up pitching her work as a writer and producer to some of the most prestigious film platforms in the world including Cannes Film Festival[8] and Durban Film Mart. Currently she runs her company Blackwell Films based in Nairobi.
