Randeep Jha (born 27 Oct 1982) is an Indian filmmaker best known for his compelling storytelling with minimalistic shots, stark realism combining them with an impeccable and unique style. Early Life and Work

In 2004, Randeep joined theatre at Barry John's Theatre in Education (TIE) company, New Delhi where he worked for three years and taught drama at a school in New Delhi. Randeep moved to Mumbai in 2008 and worked in television for three years before working in films.

Career

Randeep started his film career as an assistant director in Dibaker Banerjee's Shanghai (2012) and started assisting Anurag Kashyap in Ugly (2013) and Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016) and went on to be the chief assistant director in Mukkabaaz (2017). Randeep's first directorial venture was a 20 minute short Kartaa (2018) which he also produced and co-wrote with Adamya Bhalla. It was presented by

Trial by Fire (2023) which he co-directed with Prashant Nair. Trial by Fire is a crime drama series starring Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol

. The series was based on the book written by Mrs. Neelam Krishnamoorthy who tragically lost both her children in the 1997 uphaar cinema fire tragedy.

Randeep's latest work Netflix's Kohrra released on July 15th 2023 was described by Film Companion's Rahul Desai as "the most captivating series of 2023 so far". The series was produced by Clean Slate Filmz and showrun by Sudip Sharma. Suvinder Vicky played the lead role along with Barun Sobti in the series. The series was applauded by Karan Johar as "arguably the best series I have seen since #trialbyfire ( both directed by the brilliant breakthrough filmmaker @randeepjha )". The series also earned Randeep a heartfelt congratulatory note from noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who went on to say "Randeep has a signature in his work".

Other work

Randeep has also worked as an actor in Anurag Kashyap’s segment of Netflix's Lust Stories (2018) and Nikkhil Advani’s Hero (2015).
