Travis Sayles

Travis Jermaine Sayles (born January 21, 1986) better known by his stage name Travesty, is an American producer[1], musician[2], singer[3] and songwriter[4]. In June 2012 his production credits include work for Platinum artist Justin Beiber {Die in Your Arms}[5] and contributed several songs to Nickelodeon movie RAGS. {Stand out (album Version), Not that Different at All, and Better than this}[6]. As an up and coming commodity to the producer community Travis prides himself on inventing fresh and edgy music that cannot be duplicated

Biography

Jermaine Sayles was born in

Brooklyn, New York on January 21, 1986 to Jonathan Sayles and Francis Purvis. His grandparents, both pastors helped to raise and steer him in the path of the church. Travis was extremely close to his grandmother Daisy-Mae Purvis; being his biggest supporter. Even when he didn’t have the knowhow of making chords his grandmother would instruct the fellow musicians to leave her grandson and let him practice. These moments shaped Travis’ work ethic and definitely increased his confidence. Travis’ mother and father are also both experienced musicians. His mother is a singer and his father is an organist and sings. Travis began his music career in the church when he was eight years old. He’d patiently wait until it was his turn to get on the organ[7]
so he could show that he was ready to perform, and if not better than the older more seasoned musicians. Travis practiced and stayed diligent and before long he was a salary musician for one of the local churches in Brooklyn, New York. Travis played many sports and acquired several trophies, he also enjoyed his art class.

Musician Career

Travis began playing the organ and traveling all over the world. He was asked to play personally for President Barack Obama alongside Grammy award winning artist Maxwell. He headlined at

Production Career

In 2008, he began to make beats on his MOTIF XS8 keyboard, making complete songs with just the standard sounds. After three years of touring with artist and playing his original music to different names in the industry Travis received a life changing phone call. Multi-platinum Producer, and CEO of DarkChild Entertainment Rodney Jerkins[9] requested Travis’ presence at a studio session. After a few meetings Travis brought in his 24th birthday as the newest member of Rodney Jerkins’ DarkChild Entertainment. He relocated to Los Angeles, California. He immediately was placed as a Producer for American Idol Season 10[10], alongside Rodney Jerkins. His assignment included remaking twenty one songs that would be used for the contestants to perform to every week. The songs were later released to ITunes. When Travis completed American Idol he buried himself in work at the studio. With hard work and dedication he was able to land his first single “Die in Your Arms” with Justin Beiber. The song reached number one on ITunes and is featured on Justin Bieber’s BELIEVE 2012 album.
