Aisa Kirabo Kacyira
Biography
Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira is a Rwandese diplomat who has served as UN-Deputy Habitat's Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General from November 2011. In this capacity, she has played a significant role in developing sustainable cities and human settlements across the world, working closely with both governmental and non-governmental organizations[1]. Dr. Kacyira has extensive expertise and experience in senior management and strategic leadership in government and non-governmental organizations at the subnational, national, regional, and international levels. Dr. Kacyira served as Governor of Rwanda's Eastern Region, the country's largest province with a population of 2.5 million people, from February to October 2011. She handled the Province's sustainable development and urbanization, which borders the capital city of Kigali.[2]
Dr. Kacyira received her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from Makerere University in Uganda and her Masters in Veterinary Science in Animal Production and Economics from James Cook University in Australia. She is now studying for her MBA at Rwanda's School of Finance and Banking and the Netherlands' Maastricht School of Management.[3]
Dr. Kacyira is married and the mother of four children.[4]
