Rivera made her acting debut in the television series

Rivera's breakthrough came in 2007 where she co-starred alongside Dingdong Dantes in a lead role in Marimar, based on the Mexican television series of the same name. After Angel Locsin rejected the role, Rivera successfully auditioned for and was subsequently cast in the title role.
