Ben Shickel is a second-year electrical engineering student at the University of Florida. He was born in Pensacola, FL, but grew up in Jacksonville before moving to Gainesville to attend university. He chose this particular topic because of his interests in music, the recording industry, and how changes in technology have impacted each. Ben enjoys listening to music and playing guitar in his free time. He believes that the traditional methods of music promotion and distribution are about to undergo significant changes due to the perpetually increasing rates of incidence of illegal file-sharing and the spread of digital music.
