Mentoring plan for Elisa.rolle

Summary

We’ve put together a team of editors to help this editor, who is well-intentioned and willing to help build the encyclopedia, regain the community’s confidence after concerns were raised about copyright violations, edit warring, and battleground behavior. The team includes SarahSV, Victoriaearle, Rosiestep, SusunW, Megalibrarygirl, and Valereee. We are agreed that copy-paste, including from a translation or public-domain text, should be avoided (except for direct quotes), as should close paraphrasing. Instead, Elisa will summarize source material in her own words. After someone on the team has checked it, they'll edit the article or talk page to let other team members know the addition has been checked. We're willing to continue the mentorship for up to 12 months.

Tutorial

In July, Victoriaearle worked through a comprehensive tutorial on preventing, detecting, and fixing copyvio with Elisa.rolle. Her general process is described here and the work they did can be seen at the link above. During this period Victoria investigated between 30 and 50 of Elisa's articles; her assessment is here.

Copyright

Elisa will begin editing again with her own articles, using the CCI list as a resource, to address any possible concerns with close paraphrasing. She will make any copyedits that don't represent the addition of more than a few sentences, and always with a citation at the end of each sentence or paragraph as appropriate; these will be checked by the mentoring team against the provided source.

For larger additions, we’ll start out with Elisa bringing the source and her specific edit to User talk:Valereee/ER to get feedback before she makes edits to the article. The team will keep this page on their watchlist, and anyone who is available will respond as soon as possible to make the process as non-cumbersome and non-frustrating for Elisa as possible. As the mentoring team become comfortable with her continued avoidance of copyvio, we’ll increase the size of additions she can make without supervision, but we’ll continue to check her work for as long as it takes for all of us to become comfortable that she understands copyvio and related issues.

Article creation

After six months, assuming the team agrees that she understands copyvio, Elisa will be free to create articles. For her first article creations, a team member will work directly with her on the draft. Once everyone is comfortable, the team will remain available to Elisa for questions via talk pages and will provide mentoring as needed for interactions with other editors. She’s also free to ping any one of us at any time.

Reverting

Elisa has agreed to abide by

1RR
for 12 months after her unblock. She can bring any change that would represent a second revert of another editor here for advice.

Contingency plan

The mentoring team has complete confidence both in Victoriaearle's assessment of Elisa's understanding and in Elisa's good faith. In the unlikely event that Elisa violates the terms of her agreement, we are ready to administer blocks of increasing length or will support other administrators administering such blocks. As an additional precaution, to address any potential concerns that the team mentoring Elisa would be too involved to be objective, GoldenRing has agreed to be available as an independent admin; of course any administrator is also welcome to act in any appropriate manner. We hope other good-faith administrators will help us help Elisa and view this next year of probationary work as a period during which a good-faith editor who struggled is now trying to regain community support. The mentoring team do not consider ourselves a layer of protection for Elisa; our intent here is solely to help her regain the confidence of the community by proving herself a useful and non-problematic contributor.
