Gundam 00 created by Sunrise. It is the first Gundam series to be set in the real-world Anno Domini timeline.

Synopsis

In 2301 A.D., a 10-year old Setsuna F. Seiei is running down the streets of an ruined town, while trying to engage Anf mobile suits with only an automatic rifle. A recording of a man (Ali Al-Saachez) is broadcast from the mobile suits, claiming God's work; Setsuna hides behind a wall and thinks how no God exists in such a world. Shortly, he gets trapped by a mobile suit but before he is gunned down a beam pierces the Anf from above. A rain of beam shots decimates the remaining mobile suits. Setsuna stares in awe at the hovering mobile suit, as it gives off a stream of glowing particles.

Six years later, the latest Advanced European Union (AEU) mobile suit, the Enact, is giving a demonstration near the base of the AEU space elevator. Two Union soldiers, Billy Katagiri and Graham Aker, critique the suit's mimicry of their own Flag suit, before being berated by the Enact pilot, Patrick Corlasawar. Meanwhile, 8 km up, Setsuna, now a Gundam Meister, heads towards the showgrounds in his Gundam Exia. AEU operators pick up the suit on visual sensors, but cannot track it with radar. Setsuna lands facing the Enact and Patrick, enraged, engages him with his sonic blade. Setsuna easily slices off the knife and hand, and proceeds to wreck the Enact, while sparing the pilot. He takes off, followed in pursuit by several AEU Hellions.

In space, by the orbital solar ring, the bridge crew of the Ptolemaios discusses the completion of Phase 1 of the ongoing missions. Allelujah Haptism takes off in his Gundam Kyrios. At the low orbit station of one of the space elevators, the Human Reform League (HRL) is celebrating the elevator's 10th anniversary. Wang Liu Mei, a member of Celestial Being, is attending there and is informed by her servant Hong Long of the operation's commencement.

Setsuna is attacked by the Hellions and destroys one of them, when reinforcements arrive from hangars inside the elevator. While holding them off, he is helped by Lockon Stratos in the Gundam Dynames, who snipes several Hellions from the ground. He declares Phase 2 to be complete.

At the HRL station, soldiers pick up terrorists in Hellions heading towards them. Several Tieren suits are dispatched, but are unable to prevent three missiles from firing. Seconds before they are about to hit the station, Kyrios destroys them with a beam shot. Allelujah knocks out two of the terrorists, while the third one heading towards the station is confronted by Virtue and dispatched, leaving a stunned crowd inside the building.

Later, a news broadcast relates the events at the low orbit station, and is watched by many people around the world, including the crew of the Ptolemaios and the Gundam Meisters. During the broadcast, a message is shown from the creator of Celestial Being, Aeolia Schenberg, stating the goal of his organization; to end warfare through the use of armed interventions. Watching the broadcast, Setsuna and Lockon discuss how there is no turning back now.
