James “Jim” Melville is an American diplomat.
A native of
Bradley Beach, New Jersey, Jim Melville graduated from Boston University with a degree in history. He holds a J.D. from Rutgers University
School of Law, and is a member of the bars of New Jersey and New York.

U.S. Embassy, Paris

At the Minister-Counselor
for Management Affairs.
In Washington, he has worked in Legislative Affairs, as a Senior Watch Officer in the Operations Center, and at the Foreign Service Board of Examiners. He is presently the Executive Director of the Bureaus of European and Eurasian Affairs and International Organization Affairs, providing support for 79 overseas posts.
Melville has received a Meritorious Honor Award, six Superior Honor Awards, and an Award for Excellence from the
American School in London

Melville is married and has two sons. He speaks Russian, German and French.
