  1. AfD discussions like this, except maybe (occasionally) to Comment in ones where I may have initiated a speedy delete that was overturned ... see the protocol
    I try to follow these days.
  2. My contributions - a tale of research ... I added information about members of Mensa International obtained from a query to the Library of Congress to accurately populate a category, but ultimately, it was a waste of energy because of a Categories for Discussion that I missed (that's what happens when you eschew watchlists.)

Ok, good work! I have one question though, regarding "I am nonetheless willing to assist User:Editor-name (talk · contribs), and other recent contributors to this article, to make constructive improvements to it". What if the tagger isn't willing? I often see articles that ought to be tagged, but if it were about a subject I know nothing about, I'm not about to offer my services to fix it.. :-/ Matthewedwards (talk · contribs · count · email) 03:17, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oy! Never thought of that ... I think that it was DGG (talk · contribs) who raised my consciousness from a rabid deletionist perspective and prompted the current offer of a helping hand ... hey, you can always go back and edit it to remove the offer ... or clone it as Template:Flag-article-delete with the offer removed ... or make it a parameter of the template, e.g., "offer=1", and the default is not to say it ... maybe I'll do it Some Other Edit. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 04:09, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 Done I've updated both {{Flag-article}} and {{Flag-editor}} to recognize an optional assist parameter to add "helping hand" language ... and my apologies for the earlier {{sofixit}} attitude ... lack of sleep, I guess.
Speaking of lack of sleep, I now think that it should work the other way, i.e., offering a helping hand is the default, and noassist omits the offer of help. :-) — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 20:03, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I flipped it so that you must add noassist to suppress the offer of assistance ... just forgot to mention it earlier. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 11:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update ... noassist

{{Flag-editor}} now provides alternate language depending on noassist ... no change to {{Flag-article}}, except that now they both populate Categories, i.e., Flagged articles and Flagged editors. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 20:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CfD for Category:Flagged editors

A

CfD for Category:Flagged editors was recently closed as Delete, but it's still there until Some Other Editor removes all of the tags from User Talk pages. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 22:31, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply

Post mortem

Well,

this CfD put an end to the category, and a bot removed the tag from all user Talk pages that were flagged ... OTOH, Category:Flagged articles remains unscathed. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 16:00, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply

Assistance with Article

I am earnestly trying to post a new article about a local author. How can I get assistance to create this page? I've read the help files, but it must be above my level. Is there someone who can give me direct answers to editing questions?

Hello ... Please read Links normally to be avoided, and stop adding links to order forms from online retailers as "references" ... Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk · contribs) 16:49, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

--Dfduran (talk) 17:14, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to User talk:Dfduran#Assistance with Article151.200.237.53 (talk) 19:49, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support. I have just added four references that refer to the author without catalog or order form. I have loads of links where the author is referenced. I noticed that this page is set for deletion. If I added these links, will that satisfy?

If these three links are not suffice, could you please tell me why?

Thank you again for your help. --Dfduran (talk) 04:26, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but
External link spamming ... those links you added are for reviews on the websites for online retailers ... you need reviews from multiple independent Reliable sources so as not to violate Conflict of interest. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 07:41, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply

A-ha

There you are, I was just wondering the other day where you'd gone off to. Flag templates look nice. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 03:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tee-hee ... you can always track me through Recent IP accounts ... Some Other Editor requested the deletion of my "unused" IP User pages, which is why all of the ones before 2007-12-19 are redlinked <Sigh!> — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 04:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE

Hello, just to let you know I switched back to the non 3-D version of the warning symbols for the templates. The reason being is that since the ambox template standardization, we removed all instances of Nuvola images from messages, so actually, the non-3-D version is the more common standard. Another reason is that nuvola icons are licensed under the GNU license by gnome, while the other version is public domain. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. -- penubag  (talk) 04:03, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem ... I thought that the Nuvola images were the preferred versions ... as long as they all match, I don't care which are used ... I'll replace the ones on {{Flag-article}} and {{Flag-editor}} to match ... as soon as I can identify them. :-) — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 04:18, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you :) -- penubag  (talk) 06:00, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 Done OK, they both use Image:Ambox_warning_blue.svg now. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 11:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
:) thx -- penubag  (talk) 02:36, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editor for review

Now you know our old friend

Colors8 (talk · contribs) ? Well there is another editor requiring a bit of attention in the same way, Midnight man (talk · contribs), who seems to have a very similar MO. I have started following his new pages but may need some assistance. Just a heads up, keep up the good work. --Triwbe (talk) 12:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply

Well, that's why I created WP:FLAG-FICT, and then cloned it to create WP:FLAG-MOVIE ... "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance" ... Fight Fancruft! :-) — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 12:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

oldprodfull

Why did you add an {{oldprodfull}} tag to

Template:Oldprodfull. andy (talk) 09:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply
]

I beg to differ ... check the edit history for
Oldprodfull
}} with the correct information.
It is not my responsibility to initialize an {{
OCD
channel) ... later, I go through my Contributions (no need for a Watchlist) and fill in the tags that I didn't catch during the previous sweep ... sorry for your confusion. :-)
And you are correct in that a {{
Prodwarning}} should have been placed on the Talk page for the creator, User:Rovingeditor (talk · contribs) according to the History, so I have taken the liberty of doing it ... BTW, I often put Prodwarning on pages that I personally did not PROD or second. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 13:39, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply
]
Well you've got me there. We must be talking about a different template. At
Template:Oldprodfull
I see that "This template documents the fact that an article has previous been tagged for a proposed deletion... but the proposed deletion was contested". I don't see a contested prod in this case, just a faint bleat from another editor that the "List must be expanded, but deleted?"
I get the impression that the intention of the template is to document contested prods where the original prod is no longer in the current version of the article - it seems a strange waste of time for anyone to put text on the Talk page that simply repeats word for word the prod and prod2 that anyone can see in the body of the article. In particular why should DGG second my prod and then be expected to make a copy on the Talk page?
Anyway, I don't really care. Just curious. andy (talk) 14:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Contested PRODs are not the only reason to use it ... having the seconded PROD can be convenient, especially of the editor did not supply a reason, but may have left something meaningful in their Edit summary ... OTOH, a lot of these articles are deleted when the PROD expires, so size/verbosity becomes moot. :-) — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 14:17, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mensa List

Beats me, I guess it's possible though, based on the edits. Not sure if it's enough for a RFCU though. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 22:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, anonymous user. You said on my talk page that I deleted content from List of Mensans, "without explaining the valid reason for the removal in the edit summary." I'm sorry to say that I did provide a reason for the removal and it's in the edit summary, which you apparently missed. Here it is again: remove Jodie Foster, she denied this herself: http://www.chetempochefa.rai.it/TE_videoteca/1,10916,1087787,00.html. Now go and watch that video. And, by the way, I'm not under IP 68.157.201.66. I don't edit anonymously, like you. Cheers. ☆ CieloEstrellado 03:59, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That video is not a
WP:RS ... as for the wording of {{uw-unsourced2}}, well, I didn't create it, but I chose to use it in this case rather than compose a message of my own. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 11:59, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply

Re:Flag-editor

We're great, thanks for the explanation. Also, it could be that I'm just being a little hypersensitive right now, but to me, RTFM isn't a very polite phrase! -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 04:20, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, mate ... guess my evil twin must have hacked my password again. :-)
It's just that I spent a lot of time on the documentation for Template:Flag-editor and Template:Flag-article, and if you'd just looked at {{Flag-editor}} you would have seen the section header Removal of speedy deletion tag. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 13:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
