Image Tagging Image:EdgarWhitcomb.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:EdgarWhitcomb.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "
Hi. I noticed that you uploaded the above image, and I was wondering why you tagged it as your own creation? Surely Margaret Thatcher is the creator of her own signature? Unless there is some specific ruling about signatures, I would expect that uploading images of them is along the same lines as scanning a page from a book. The person who scanned the image may have created the scan, but the author of the book owns the copyright on the content of the scan. Do you happen to know of any guidance about this issue? If not, I will check with some other users here to find out. Thanks. Road Wizard 06:53, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Rather random I know, and a good year late, but to quote the article on autographs: 'Under United States Copyright Law, autographs are not eligible for copyright, as they are "titles, names...mere variations of typographic ornamentation, lettering, or coloring".' Image source problem with Image:DuPontPierre.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:DuPontPierre.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on

File source problem with File:WBacon.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:WBacon.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
