Per the Pulitzer site [4] they have only announced "finalists" since 1980. I am not seeing any reliable source that would be able to verify a 1977 "finalist". -- The Red Pen of Doom 11:23, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

I do agree that even without being a Pulitzer nominee, Monaco or at least his novels have had significant coverage in 3rd party sources meeting our notability requirements and will not object to the inclusion on the 2 list articles we have been discussing. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:39, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
