Rev/Del question

Hello Alison. As you have helped me with this kind of question in the past I am wondering if this edit meets the criteria for deleting. If not no worries. Thanks for your time and have a nice weekend On wiki and Off. MarnetteD | Talk 16:31, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

  • Hi, MarnetteD! You're absolutely right, and that edit falls under the
WP:BLP policy. I've gone ahead and removed it. Thanks for letting me know & have a super weekend yourself. TGIF :) - Alison

  • Alison, would you mind semi-protecting the page please?

  • Ok,  Done - as well as dealing with those socks that were popping up. Thanks for the note :) MarnetteD - I hope one of those movies is The Long Good Friday - it was one of his best, IMO & I remember seeing it as a teenager - Alison 19:06, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the new work that you have done. TLGF is definitely on the stack. As is Last Orders (film) where he once again acted with Helen Mirren. Made 20 years later it is a good film in its own right but it is wonderful to see the chemistry they have and how the years have affected it. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 21:00, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Based on their latest comments on their talk page, I'm about to head to

WP:ANI. Any reason why I shouldn't? --NeilN talk to me

(talk page stalker) AN might be better; the block is going to expire in six hours anyway, long before ANI would form a consensus, so going to AN, asking for a general review of the action rather than ANI for an explicit unblock might serve better. Writ Keeper  17:06, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Noted. I'm just flabbergasted that an editor in good standing can be blocked for two reverts with no warning. Looking over the edit histories of the 20,000+ articles I have watchlisted, hundreds of veteran editors would have lengthy block records if this was applied across the board. There needs to be some other justification other than "two reverts". --NeilN talk to me 17:12, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Alison. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See

Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk

Irish laughter
Thank you for quality contributions to articles on feminism and Ireland, among many others, for protecting child protection,

  • Aww - thank you so much! That's very kind <3 I can't believe it's been seven years since that first one, and that I was the first one ever. How time flies! - 18:01, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Time certainly flies ;) - I tried to remember - regarding how we present user pages - when Ched commented with some sarcasm about replacing the well-organized user page of BarkingMoon by a "suspected sock" banner, how we show our readers what a loving community we are, but I can't find the diff, could be 2011 or 2012. Do you remember? - I enjoy, that one of the few articles which that promising user wrote is in the process to be expanded to FA, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:58, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Irish sayings

  • "If they don't make you laugh, they won't make you cry" (regarding childless couples)
  • *Three cheers and applause from the gods" ("gods being the cheapest, "nosebleed", seats in British and Irish music halls and theatres)
  • "What can't be cured must be endured" (not 100% certain about the provenance of that one, but I like it best) Quis separabit? 00:10, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Alison, I noticed your kind edit summary toward new user on Diethylstilbestrol page. Just wanted to leave you a quick note to say your kindness was refreshing. It seems most editors would have just called that vandalism and not bothered to take a few moments to explain. It’s nice to see some kindness on WP. --BoboMeowCat (talk) 21:07, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Questionable editing on your behalf

Hi Allie, did you happen to notice this edit from LightandDark2000? He appears to add forged commentary from you, refactored Loriendrew's comment, and deleted my comment entirely. I do think we need to get to the bottom of whether or not these accounts are actually related, but his technique is bizarre. For some backstory, I accused this user of being a sock of Brightify/HoshiNoKaabii2000, since their name seemed to me to be a not-so-clever portmanteau of both accounts. I recanted, because I didn't have enough data. The above edit doesn't look very good-faithy to me, and they previously did damage by merging various SPI reports. Many thanks for joining the Challenge! It gives the whole Project a bit of much-needed clout! Thanks. For an article to be included, though, it needs to have been updated with at least 1,000 bytes of new text. You can find this info on the History of the Page tab, as you know. Interestingly, its the smaller wikis which are ploughing ahead, not the big guns. But, and I may be wrong, ploughs dig deeper preparing the ground for something green and good. It would be so good if all the wiki plough-persons met up at Wikimania! Llywelyn2000 (talk) 07:26, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
