Open Library links

I'm actually sorry for having commented in your bot request; noticing the edit to

WP:BRFA yet. It was quite stupid of me to comment on a request that wasn't active. If you want to delete my comment before submitting it, I give you permission to do so; but I'll say that I still have my doubts about the value of the links and may, on further review and consideration, give my opinion on the request when you do submit it. Once again, my apologies. Deor (talk) 18:57, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply

No worries at all - it was good feedback to get and I've revised my proposal based on your feedback. I'm new to this process and any guidance or advise you can provide would be greatly appreciated. The goal of these links is ultimately to get users to books and as you noticed, in the case of Divine Comedy OL doesn't provide that which makes it indeed not a particularly valuable link. In other cases however I think it is. Please let me know your thoughts on the revised proposal. Arielbackenroth (talk) 19:04, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have to find the time to look more extensively at what the OL site provides. Don't hold off on submitting the proposal on my account; it's probably a good idea to get the opinions of others in any event—especially since I know nothing about the technical aspects of carrying out an automated task such as you propose. Open Library question

Are you in any way associated with Open Library? Is there some way you could add links to Wikipedia to Open Library via a bot? That would make the Wikipedia-Open Library traffic exchange a little more reciprocal, Sadads (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - I work on Open Library and I'm actively working on adding ids (and links) from Open Library to Wikipedia and other sources. Arielbackenroth (talk) 18:00, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are you doing it reciprocally though? Are you adding Wikipedia links to Open Library? In most cases, Wikipedia is probably the most thorough place for many works, so a link from the Open Library entry to Wikipedia would be beneficial to OL users and Wikipedia , Sadads (talk) 18:36, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - absolutely. We'll be running a bot against the same dataset adding reciprocal links for all links added to wikipedia - and many many more. This is a high priority for Open Library.Arielbackenroth (talk) 18:38, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Very cool, I do a lot of work with
WP:Novels and I recently started dabbling with Open Library and realized many of the books I work with here don't have links to those pages, so I started doing it by hand. But that only led to the realization that that would have been an impossibly long and tedious process. Thanks so much, and if you need any help, I am more than willing to (though I don't have much in the way of programming/bot expertise.Sadads (talk) 22:59, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply

Your inactive bot(s)

Hello Arielbackenroth. We currently show that you are the operator on file for at least one bot account that appears to be inactive. Please see the discussion and list of bots here:

WP:BRFA. If you are still in control of your bot (including knowing its hopefully strong password) and wish to maintain the bot flag, please sign the table on the linked discussion. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 14:43, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply

@The garmine: Thanks for the feedback. I've added 2 citations. I hope that is sufficient and acceptable. Arielbackenroth (talk) 19:46, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
