Information icon Hello, I'm Ashleyyoursmile. I noticed that you recently removed content from Islamic feminism without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. There are thousands of caste pages on Wikipedia and the Wikipedia community has agreed that genetic studies can have too many interpretations and are prone to misrepresentation. That's why we don't use them.

That is fine, I do still think we should communicate somehow that rigid caste endogamy was the state of affairs in India long before the British arrived. Aronanki (talk) 16:58, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Question is what constitutes Caste {still being debated academically} ? Historically many societies have had endogamy so it can not be seen as exclusive feature of caste. Another thing is endogamy has even longer history among tribes compared to caste even if we limit ourselves to subcontinent.

"Question is what constitutes Caste {still being debated academically} ? Historically many societies have had endogamy so it can not be seen as exclusive feature of caste."
Most societies had some degree of class endogamy, yes, "caste" however generally refers to particularly rigid social hierarchies characterized by a near complete lack of mixing and social mobility such as the racial dynamics of the American South under Jim Crow or the varna-jati system historically present in India.
"Another thing is endogamy has even longer history among tribes compared to caste even if we limit ourselves to subcontinent."
Yes, and some (myself included) would argue that these tribes were/are de facto castes as well and not all that dissimilar in terms of their social identity formation from other jati groups in India. Aronanki (talk) 16:15, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic feminism

Information icon Hi Aronanki! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Islamic feminism several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Islamic feminism, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Woodroar (talk) 23:33, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A friendly alert

This is part of similar friendly alerts issued by me to few other editors too and be assured you are not being singled out.

As such I respect you for being fairly aware in good many WP policies . This is not to say you have broken any guidelines relating

WP:CT/GG
but remaining alerted may help to avoid heat of moment editing situations.

Wish you happy editing and cheers.
